It can be helpful to block out your ringing phone when you need to focus on more important matters. Like when you’re hard at work on a project that’s nearing deadline, or you’re in a meeting and can’t have outside interruptions. That’s why Do Not Disturb is such a nice feature.

Productivity is a hot topic in business today. But there are so many things that distract us from work.

For office folk, that may include the chatty fellow two cubicles down who likes to stop by every morning to shoot the breeze. Or another office baby shower. Or a birthday party. Or a fire drill.

For telecommuters, it may be another member of household popping in for visit. Or a load of laundry. Or a sunny day and pair of hiking boots.

On top of all that, we have multiple communications channels to contend with.

The phone is ringing. The email just keeps coming. Just got a text from the spouse.

What’s happening on Facebook? Instagram? LinkedIn (News - Alert)? Twitter?

So when people do get the chance and the motivation to get into the zone and really be productive, it can be very helpful to block out as many potential distractions as possible.

Sure, Jeremy from two cubicles down, will always be around. So will family members. And you wouldn’t want it any other way.

But it can really helpful to block out your ringing phone when you need to focus on more important matters. Like when you’re hard at work on a project that’s nearing deadline. Or you’re in a meeting and can’t have outside interruptions.

That’s why Do Not Disturb is such a nice feature.

When activated, it sends calls directly to voicemail. Your phone doesn’t ring. Which means there’s one less thing to distract you from completing the work that’s in front of you. And you can get stuff done.

Users can typically turn on Do Not Disturb via an online account or directly from their desktop phones, which makes it even easier.
