Advances in communications today make it easier than ever for people to communicate wherever they are. But in business environments we often still need to leverage multiple applications and devices to interact with colleagues and partners. However, there’s a move afoot to embed communications into existing business applications for ease of use.

That’s exactly what’s happening at a leading health care IT company, which is using the CounterPath (News - Alert) Corp. SDK to provide caregivers at doctors offices, hospitals, and other venues with UC/VoIP as part of a mobile solution.

“User behavior is shifting from a device-centric approach to a persona-based approach where communications are an integral part of their workflow.  Our customer is a perfect example of where CounterPath’s technology fits within the voice and data paradigm of inserting communications into that user-specific business work flow with an enriching experience,” said Todd Carothers, executive vice president of sales and marketing at CounterPath. “They are able to quickly incorporate the CounterPath SDK into their current application and focus on building additional value around the voice offering.”

Mobile VoIP market poised to be valued at $145.76 billion by 2024, according to Grand View Research Inc. Global Market Insights, meanwhile, says the overall UC market is poised to reach $96 billion by 2023.

As you’re probably aware, mobile first has become an overarching trend in the business communications arena in recent years. Since workers are increasingly using their mobile phones for business, they want to be able to use those mobile devices to do business whether they’re in the office, on the move in a professional environment, working from home, traveling, or engaging in leisure activities.

Meanwhile, businesses want to be able to extend the capabilities of their business communications solutions to provide employees with experiences on their mobile devices that mirror those of their deskphones. Those organizations also want to better control those communications experiences.
