With the rapid proliferation of smartphones, today’s enterprise worker is becoming more and more mobile. This trend is compelling companies to embrace mobility across the enterprise in order to cater to the needs of employees’ personal and professional lives. Organizations are thus looking to bring your own device (BYOD) and virtual office technologies to help them generate additional gains in productivity and customer satisfaction.

In response to this demand, AudioCodes (News - Alert) has announced the release of its new cloud-based enterprise mobility service, MobilityPlus Business Edition (BE), an application delivered from the Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) (AWS) cloud.

MobilityPlus BE is designed to offer businesses the opportunity to enhance their existing telephony systems with a mobility solution that increases employee accessibility and productivity. It provides superior voice quality based on AudioCodes’ home-grown voice and networking technologies, and includes mobile clients tightly coupled with a delivery platform for secure connectivity, management and monitoring.  This enables service providers to offer their business customers “anywhere, anytime, any device” mobile communications services over data networks while reducing the total cost of ownership.

In a statement, Diane Myers, principal analyst, VoIP and IMS, Infonetics (News - Alert), said in a statement, “While service providers face revenue pressure and increased use of OTT services, cloud-based communications solutions, like Enterprise Mobility of AudioCodes, offer service providers a solution that embraces the adoption of mobile VoIP OTT services under their own brand.”

The company explained that MobilityPlus BE has been built on home-grown technologies, including a voice engine and connectivity to social networks and the public cloud. It allows users to communicate with their fellow workers seamlessly from their smartphone devices by initiating VoIP calls over Wi-Fi and cellular data networks. It also supports high-definition voice quality, utilizes popular wideband coders such as Opus and Silk, and leverages AudioCodes SBC products and core voice engine technologies to ensure end-to-end HD VoIP quality experience.
