As many traditional service operators are now reaping, Triple and Quad Play provide a sure and cost-effective way for service providers to enter the bundled services market, capture a greater share of subscribers’ total communication and entertainment expenditures and protect market share for their historical service offerings.
Triple Play (News - Alert) represents a pre-integrated package combining Internet Protocol (IP) based data services, usually High-Speed Internet Access (HSIA), voice & video telephony, broadcast TV, movies and messaging. This package of integrated services can be used over multiple devices, such as fixed line telephones, TV’s & PC’s.
Quad Play brings mobility to the package by adding Fixed-Mobile Convergence (News - Alert) (FMC) and enabling services to be accessed via a mobile phone. Quad Play adds significant benefits to service packages by enabling remote interactivity while mobile, so that users can plan and view entertainment video anytime and anywhere. Services include Mobile TV, controlling a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) from a mobile phone, and accessing and displaying media-center services on dual mode phones.
Keys to success for operators include: pre-integration of solutions, which simplifies deployment and reduces time to market; and synergetic applications across multiple delivery mediums that foster greater creativity and innovation. New service innovations will give service operators additional revenue opportunities reduce subscriber churn and build solid customer loyalty for the long term market battle against rivals.
