A veteran of the telecom industry, Gillstrom joins Comverse (News - Alert) after fifteen years of service with Ericsson. At Ericsson, he served in a number of senior management positions, including president of enterprise business unit; president of Sony Ericsson (News - Alert) Mobile Communications (USA). He was also a member of the Multimedia business unit’s management team.
During the late 1990s, Gillström was responsible for the TDMA mobile systems marketing and business development activities within the Asia Pacific region, based in Singapore. He also was appointed vice president at Ericsson´s Singapore Telecom (News - Alert) Account Division.
In 2000, he became President for Ericsson in Central America and the Caribbeans after which he became president for Sony Ericsson in North America.

Comverse, a subsidiary of Comverse Technology, is a provider of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communication and billing services.
The company’s Total Communication portfolio includes value-added messaging, personalized data and content-based services, converged IP communications solutions, and real-time prepaid, postpaid and converged billing solutions.
Earlier in September, Comverse launched the updated version of its Comverse Netcentrex (News - Alert) Open Media Platform (OMP), a standards-based media platform combining Intelligent Peripheral and Media Resource Function (MRF) capabilities on the same platform.
