EZLynx has announced a new way for insurance agencies to communicate with their customers via SMS messages by adding EZLynx Text Messaging to its Insurance Agency Management System.

“EZLynx understands the power of digital communication, and we are continuing to find creative and productive ways to make technology work for you and not against you,” said Jaideep Jayaram, EZLynx vice president of sales and marketing. He added that EZLynx was already starting to replace older legacy systems that are in use in many insurance agencies.

The system, part of EZLynx’s Rating and Management System, allows agencies to send and receive text messages using a dedicated phone number. The messages are stored inside of EZLynx’s system, providing a record of SMS messages which can be invaluable for documenting claims.

EZLynx Text Messaging is available either as a standalone product or as part of a suite including bulk email, e-signatures and a Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook plugin.

The record makes Errors and Omissions (“E&O” in insurance-speak) problems much less likely.

“Agencies are keenly aware of the E&O issue caused by communicating with their customers via text messages because the courts find that if it’s not documented in the agency system, it never happened,” said Kaleb DeMille, owner of Main Street Insurance Agency. “EZLynx Text Messaging helps to eliminate the E&O trap caused by texting with clients – all in one tightly integrated solution that no other insurance agency automation vendor has managed to pull off.”

EZLynx cited research by the Pew (News - Alert) Internet and Life Project that text messages had a 98 percent open rate, meaning that nearly all of them actually got read, rather than just sitting in some email inbox. In addition, 90 percent of text messages were read in three minutes.

This makes text messaging a fast and effective tool for a mobile workforce, especially for insurance agents working in the field.
