As businesses are now required by customers to always be available to answer their questions or solve their problems from anywhere at anytime, text messaging is proving to be extremely vital in keeping a client base completely satisfied. As demands continue to grow globally by the day, a communications platform known as TextGen that enables companies to reach their customers by text-enabling their preexisting 10-digit landline number was unveiled.

In a presentation that occurred just yesterday and involved Noah Rafalko, CEO of TSG Global, Inc., Gary Pudles, CEO of AnswerNet and Wharton instructor of entrepreneurship, and early developer of VoIP and ADSL technology, Thomas Howe (News - Alert), I was lucky enough to get a first hand look at the next-generation offering in terms of how it works, its benefits and why your business needs it right now.

In part one of this two part series, we will be discussing what TextGen is and the problems this offering is attempting to overcome.

Highlighted for being a cost-effective solution that lets consumers communicate with any firm of their choosing via text, it’s no secret that everyone, their mother and in some cases even their grandmother, are utilizing text messaging on a daily basis. However, according to these three thought leaders, texting has for too long been dependent upon a cell phone and through TextGen, the goal is to enable consumers to text businesses and assist these companies in communicating with their broad audience through whatever channel they feel most comfortable with. And that is exactly where this next-generation platform comes in play, as it allows customers to not only text these businesses but also converse wit them via the Web.

According to company officials, “The beauty of TextGen is not just that the conversation can occur via text, rather it can be done through text using the same landline phone number that an organization is already powering for all of its voice needs. Suddenly, the same number that you would call to contact a company; you can now use that number to complete real-time texts. This has the possibility to complete revolutionize the way enterprises interact with their consumers.”

The product in question has come from the evolution of the telephone number in regards to where it came from and where it is today. Essentially in the past, the number was tied to a fixed solution and when it went mobile, the number was able to travel with you. Today though, we are using that number as a virtual solution for text communication. So, where it used to be a fixed point and global, because the phone number came to you and you could text the number, that number can now accept communication from any source including text in a virtual world.

What Problems is TextGen Solving?

The above question is one of the most frequently asked when speaking about this solution. Officials added, “We are trying to solve how to allow consumers to text businesses in a way that they can accept. To prove that this is a problem nowadays, all you have to do is talk to any person under 21-years-old and ask them if they would rather call or just text a company. Most young people today will tell you they would much rather text to get a pizza delivered than make the effort to call.”

The applications for TextGen are limitless, enabling the bar on customer service to be forever raised , helping employees in the field get in contact with their companies quickly and painlessly, and permitting people to order goods or services without any associated complexity.

What helps it stand apart from other similar offerings on the market is that it helps solve the challenge firms in nearly every industry are facing is the ability is collect data from multiple sources and then source that data into a single place, a task that can be very difficult. Data sources don’t speak to each other and scripting issues often change the way data is collected in different mediums. Luckily, TextGen is here to save the day due to the fact that it can read all text scripts through a special language, forever eliminating data disparities and in turn giving a company the ability to both see and use this key information in real-time from one place.
