Recently, Comverse announced it will be a participant and featured speaker at the Open Mobile (News - Alert) Alliance (OMA) Messaging Workshop in New York on July 12, 2012. The company will present a featured presentation called “The Same – Yet Different / Bridging Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.”

The OMA is an organization allowing the worldwide adoption of mobile data services by specifying market-driven mobile service enablers that ensure service interoperability across devices, geographies, service providers, operators and networks. It also allows companies to compete through innovation and differentiation.

Orly Rapaport, assistant VP of Technology Strategy at Comverse (News - Alert), will present core messages at the OMA gathering. Industry standards, he says, should encourage innovation and differentiation, and the evolving new messaging environment must retain and enhance (and not come at the expense of) past messaging success.

Rapaport will also look at the most demanding problems at the forefront of the evolving messaging ecosystem and share Comverse solutions.

“In line with our longstanding commitment to standards-based open interfaces as an integral part of our entire product line, Comverse invests considerable resources in the development of industry standards by actively participating and leading efforts in standards bodies," noted Rapaport. "As OMA is the leading industry forum for developing market-driven, interoperable mobile service enablers, Comverse has been a member of the OMA Board of Directors since 2004.”

TMC’s Nathesh recently reported that Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) recently conducted worldwide market research indicating that Comverse has extended its position as the number-one provider in the global value-added services (VAS) market. The company examined the VAS vendor market share on three basic categories: voicemail, text messaging (SMSC) and multimedia messaging (MMSC) from the period of 2010-2011.
