It’s no secret that typing gets faster, easier and more convenient with Swype keyboards. Nuance Communications (News - Alert), a major provider of voice and language solutions for businesses and consumers around the world, has taken the convenience of Swyping to the next level with the addition of touch and voice capabilities.

By allowing users to drag their fingers from one letter to another, Swype (News - Alert) keyboard had already revolutionized the way people communicate and input text on their Android mobile devices.

Based on the company’s XT9 predictive text technology, Swype keyboards allow devices to complete words or phrases based on owners' previous usage.

Now combining the company’s Dragon speech recognition function with its unique adaptive capabilities, according to a press release, Nuance make Swype smarter. By letting the users dictate texts rather than typing them, Swype fosters a more personalized experience for Android subscribers.

In a way, Swype makes staying connected more exciting than ever. The software provides consumers with a wider selection in how they input text and interpret a user’s personal language style – ultimately resulting in an amazingly fast, flexible and accurate experience.

In its updated version, Swype includes an array of new features.

Based on Nuance’s XT9 technology, the Next Word Prediction feature allows the software to reflect on the historical usage and make predictions more accurately with each use.

Equipped with a personal dictionary, Swype now supports voice-text dictionary syncing. Every new word a user enters on the keyboard gets added to his or her personal dictionary for speech and text. They can even have Swype learn from e-mails, texts and posts. These updates are then mapped into Swype’s unified language model, so people can immediately speak or write that same word no matter how unique or specialized.

The new Swype also allows users to download over 55 languages right from the device, letting Swypers communicate everywhere in any language they speak.

Swype now delivers a four-input modality in one keyboard. People can Swype from letter to letter; type rapidly with predictive text input powered by XT9; speak their text naturally through a fully integrated Dragon button, or simply write letters, words and symbols using their fingertip.

Further, users can switch back and forth between modalities on the fly, providing the ultimate in keyboard personalization.

“People use their keyboards every day in every way – so input needs to be fast and simple,” said executive vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile Michael Thompson (News - Alert). “The new Swype living, learning keyboard ushers in a new era of input, where the keyboard adapts to the users’ unique way of communicating every time they swype, speak, tap or write.”

The next generation of Swype is available at beta.swype.com.

Other news reports Flash memory solutions provider Spansion (News - Alert), Inc. said that it has integrated Nuance voice technology into its acoustic coprocessor, the industry's first human machine interface coprocessor that enables voice-controlled system interfaces.
