The City of Chesapeake, Virginia has selected the Accela (News - Alert) Civic Cloud to streamline and automate key land management processes.
With a population of over 226,000, Chesapeake consists of both urban and rural centers and is home to more than 65 large corporations. Recently, the city’s mayor, Alan P. Krasnoff, kick-started new plans to embrace new and advancing technologies. The deployment of the Accela offering is part of those plans.
With Accela Civic Cloud managing every land use and community development activity, it will be easy for the city’s business owners, developers, citizens, and agency staff to apply for occupancy and do so in an efficient and transparent manner.
According to Accela, its Civic Cloud is built on a complete Civic Platform powered by Accela Automation, which enables government agencies of all sizes to automate key civic functions and engage with the citizens and businesses they serve.
Chesapeake is slated to use Accela Land Management, Accela Mobile Office, Accela GIS and Accela Citizen Access. These civic solutions can be tailored to unique agency requirements by Accela or its partners, or they can be purchased and quickly deployed as packaged solutions.
Maury Blackman, president and chief executive officer at Accela, remarked, “The City of Chesapeake truly understands how simplifying the processes that business owners follow to open and operate their companies can significantly bolster economic development at the local level. We’re proud to partner with the City to help them achieve their goals of providing more transparent and streamlined access to city services.”
With Accela Land Management, Chesapeake will find it easy to coordinate all activity for consideration and approval of site and building plans, permits, inspections and code enforcement within its jurisdiction. The Accela Mobile Office, meanwhile, enhances the efficiency of the government’s mobile workforce, and Accela GIS will make use of available geospatial data to simplify the decision making processes.
Finally, Accela Citizen Access will provide the city’s residents with convenient multi-language online access to information about the various processes involved in placing requests, registration and also other automated services.
