White Paper Highlights Key Ways for Companies to Reduce Telecom Spend, Improve Efficiencies

By Erin Harrison, Executive Editor, Strategic Initiatives

A new white paper - "The New Rules of Telecom Expense Management" - which focuses on three ways to effectively manage and control telecommunications spending while increasing savings, has published a white paper aimed at informing C-level executives on how to develop an efficient telecom expense management strategy.

With the increase in network traffic and wireless communication, it's no surprise that enterprises are seeing their telecom expenses grow exponentially, according to the Telesoft white paper.

In order to reduce this expense, Telesoft suggest companies: proactively manage telecom spend, manage fixed and mobile telecom together and extend the value of TEM with intuitive solutions for multiple users.

According to the company's chief executive, over the past decade, network traffic for data and wireless communications have eclipsed the costs for fixed voice traffic.

"We wrote 'The New Rules of Telecom Expense Management' to help enterprise managers understand the dramatic costs savings that come with effectively managing the telecom lifecycle, reigning in wireless expenses, and using the right tools for the job," said Thierry Zerbib, CEO and co-founder.

As TMCnet recently reported, managing telecom expenses - both wireline and wireless - is becoming an increasingly important priority for not only enterprises, but small- and medium-sized organizations as well. As more players enter the telecom expense management field, the task of finding the right provider can be daunting. For many companies, a fully integrated telecom lifecycle management is the answer.

According to Trent McCracken (News - Alert), president of Spectrum, proactively managing telecom begins with the carrier contract itself.

"Companies need to be sure that the TEM company not only has software to help automate the management of telecom, professional services personnel who can implement and support the solution, but the most important thing is expertise in negotiating carrier contracts," McCracken said. "Thorough benchmarking will aide in understanding the costs, but the language in the contract is key. Companies need to ensure their TEM company understands clauses such as ramp-up or ramp-down, which can prevent excessive charges over the life of the contract."
