Extending its commitment to deliver solutions that meet security and privacy needs to customers in the healthcare and related industries, Veramark Technologies (News - Alert) announced that its VeraSMART premise-deployed solution is now HIPAA Security compliant.
The VeraSMART application for HIPAA compliance was evaluated by an independent security testing firm. It was verified whether the app met the criteria for technical mechanisms for software applications and administrative safeguards requirements, said company officials.
Such compliance was in keeping with the relevant federal regulations and medical practices, and other covered entities were expected to benefit from adhering and adopting the sound IT principles it contains.
The security standards in HIPAA, developed to ensure that appropriate security safeguards are in place to protect certain electronic protected health care information, protect the individual’s health information and restrict the access of such information.
According to Tony Mazzullo (News - Alert), CEO and president at Veramark, it was becoming increasingly necessary to provide security compliant solutions to companies as customers across industry were citing security and privacy as top critical business concerns.
To this end, Mazzulo noted that Veramark had already achieved SSAE accreditation and was adding to its growing set of security and privacy certifications and evaluations to meeting security and privacy needs for call accounting, wireless call accounting, and telecom expense management.
For Veramark customers, the VeraSMART 10.3 upgrade will also include the HIPPA- compliant license at no incremental charge to the base software licenses.
TMCnet reported that Amtel (News - Alert) Inc., developer of the first integrated solution for managing smart device security and telecom expenses, and Vita Group, mobile communications specialist, recently joined in a partnership where Vita Group will be the exclusive distributor of Amtel’s mobile device management solutions to enterprises in Australia.
