Adaptive Digital Unveils New AnVoice Software, a VoIP Engine for Android

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Adaptive Digital, a provider of telecom and VoIP digital signal processing (DSP) software solutions, announced that it has released the newest version of its AnVoice software, a VoIP engine for Android (News - Alert).

Adaptive Digital explained that its VoIP Engine for the Android/ARM (News - Alert) is a software package that handles the processing needed to transform PCM samples to VoIP packets and VoIP packets to PCM samples. In other words, it provides all the voice processing necessary to VoIP-enable an Android/ARM application.

The software comes packed with a native-layer application with a suite of the company’s telephony, VoIP, and voice quality enhancement algorithms that can be used by developers to build toll-quality next generation mobile applications for Android/ARM users.

The company asserted that AnVoice is delivered as linkable software libraries and because of the CPU-intensive nature of voice algorithms such as acoustic echo cancellation, AnVoice runs in native mode. AnVoice can be accessed via a simple Application Program Interface (API), allowing for easy integration into an Android VoIP application. This translates directly to time and money savings in development and support, while helping Android developers to bring a quality mobile VoIP product to market.

Adaptive Digital’s AnVoice software takes care of the bleeding edge issues, serving up a robust framework to a developer thereby preventing developers from having to live on the bleeding edge themselves.

Some of the features of the AnVoice software are: Speech Compression; Acoustic Echo Cancellation; Voice Quality Enhancement; Full Duplex hands-free support; Tone Handling; RTP/ Jitter Buffer; Speaker Volume Control; and more.

AnVoice works in a wide variety of Android-based handsets, such as DROID by Motorola (News - Alert), DROID 2 by Motorola, DROID X by Motorola, Nexus One (HTC), and Samsung Galaxy in both handset and speakerphone modes. With the current release of AnVoice, Adaptive Digital asserted that it has made great strides toward a more robust and more universal Android-base VoIP engine.
