It is clear businesses are beginning to take note of the importance of security. What was once a tangible door is now a software vulnerability. Hackers diagnose the apparent weakness and attack. We read about breaches at an alarming rate, resulting in a bruised bottomline and reputation. The problem is not a lack of security management solutions, but a lack of one capable of creating a streamlined, collaborative approach to prioritize these vulnerabilities. Today, as a matter of fact, Flexera Software announced the arrival of such a solution, one the company notes is the first enterprise solution to integrate security and IT Asset management.
Flexera’s Vulnerability Intelligence Manager is capable of utilizing the FlexNet Manager Suite to aid operational efficiency and manage vulnerability. According to the recently released Vulnerability Review 2017, more than 80 percent of all registered vulnerabilities had patches the day of disclosure, the special sauce is having the know how to perform triage. In allowing Vulnerability Intelligence Manager access to normalized software inventory data from Flexera’s Software Asset Management (SAM) solution, FlexNet Manager Suite can steer the ship to bring SAM and security teams closer together, and streamline processes.
“When SAM and Security teams view applications through a common lens, they are more effective,” said Tom Canning, Vice President of Enterprise Solutions and Strategy at Flexera Software. “With our integrated SAM and security solutions, these teams can now work together to positively influence their organization's security posture. Flexera's latest product integration brings valuable information about which applications are deployed in organizations, ensuring they are automatically building and maintaining a more complete and accurate list of software that needs to be monitored for security vulnerabilities.”
With Flexera’s SAM solution in place, enterprises gain insight, control and visibility; couple this with the FlexNet Manager Suite, and firms can manage and consolidate software inventory to minimize risk and improve overall efficiency.
“We recently surveyed over 200 customers on this topic and found that 50 percent have little alignment between SAM and security - the teams are siloed. So SAM data that could support security efforts, is not being used - creating duplication of effort and added risk for organizations,” continued Canning.
Flexera is addressing a clear industry need, and with security center stage more so than ever, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
