Software Licensing Provider Flexera Software Unveils AdminStudio Suite 11

Flexera Software, a provider of Application Usage Management and software licensing solutions for application producers and enterprises, has just unveiled the latest AdminStudio Suite providing organizations with innovative tools to prepare traditional applications for enterprise deployment.

The value of Application Readiness solutions is increasing day by day as enterprises are constantly inundated with new technologies and computing models ranging from user-centric and mobile computing to virtualized applications and the cloud.

The new AdminStudio Suite 11 powers enterprises' Application Readiness processes for migrations to Windows 7, application and desktop virtualization, and day-to-day application packaging operations, the company said.

"Desktop transformation, user-centric computing, the Cloud, virtualization, and enterprise license optimization are top of mind for most enterprises today, both in terms of their enormous promise -- and complexity," said Maureen Polte, vice president of product management at Flexera Software, in a statement. "AdminStudio Suite has emerged as a strategic solution to help IT organizations ensure continual application readiness as they grapple with implementing these promising technologies."

The new Application Usage Management solution consists of AdminStudio, AdminStudio Application Compatibility Pack, and AdminStudio Virtualization Pack. The solution not only reduces the complexity associated with the new technologies but also makes it easier for companies to implement their software asset management programs.

 AdminStudio Suite automates the assessment, conversion and publishing of various application formats to physical and Cloud environments, so organizations can move their assets to Cloud in a hassle-free manner.

“Flexera Software continues increasing its support for virtualization and the Cloud by helping enterprises' Application Readiness activities with suitability testing, automated conversion, validation and packaging capabilities," said Fred Broussard, research director, enterprise system infrastructure software at IDC, in a statement.

"By supporting Microsoft's (News - Alert) Private Cloud initiative AdminStudio Suite 11 will provide added comfort to enterprises looking for assistance in their transition to the Cloud,” Broussard added.

AdminStudio Suite 11, according to company officials, is the first solution to support the upcoming release of System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. It speeds the migration to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager with a new import wizard.

The software can also determine application deployment metadata by mining package elements like system requirements, detection methods and dependence on other applications such as .NET (News - Alert), prior to creating applications in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. It also provides a user interface to edit and modify the application model elements, in addition to offering support for MSI (News - Alert), App-V, InstallScript and custom installers.

AdminStudio Virtualization Pack 11 is also the first solution to support testing of applications for Windows Server App-V, a key component of Microsoft's private cloud strategy, the company said. It can differentiate between client and server applications and make recommendations about virtualization accordingly.

"Microsoft has been working closely with Flexera Software, a key member of our Technology Adoption Program, as we planned the rollout of System Center 2012 Configuration Manager,” said Sergio Klarreich, director Strategic Alliances, Management and Security Division, Microsoft, in a statement. “This work sets the stage for AdminStudio 11 to help customers with their Application Readiness process as they migrate to user centric computing models."

 In addition to these, AdminStudio 11 features improved workflow manager integrated with Enterprise License Optimization Processes. The workflow capabilities for AdminStudio and FlexNet Manager Suite for Enterprises, Flexera Software's market-leading Enterprise License Optimization solution, have been merged into a single Workflow Manager product.

Enterprises can also automatically add or update ISO 19770-2 compliant tags for repackaged applications, as well as preserve the original publisher tag (News - Alert) if it exists. With this feature, AdminStudio 11 now supports companies' software asset management and enterprise license optimization efforts, the company said.

Flexera’s Senior Vice President of Marketing Randy Littleson recently revealed to TMCnet that “2011 was a tremendous year for Flexera Software.” Littleson added, “Our Application Usage management solutions matured and demonstrated our market leadership.”
