Quest Software (News - Alert) Public Sector, a subsidiary of Quest Software, has announced the availability of its IT management solutions under the California Department of General Services (DGS (News - Alert)), Procurement Division’s Software Licensing Program (SLP).

“We’re working with Quest Software Public Sector as they provide our state government with the critical tools needed to simplify IT management,” said Steve Lower, DGS Contract Administrator.

Under the program, any of the five designated Quest resellers for quotes and product purchases can be contacted by California state and local government departments and agencies, according to company officials.

“Being added to the list of SLP publishers along with other well-respected software companies is quite an honor for us,” said Michael Snipes, West Region Sales Manager at Quest Software Public Sector.

Snipes believes that the inclusion in the Software Licensing Program will allow the company to more quickly and efficiently serve California government customers while simplifying the procurement process for them. The DGS SLP portal creates an easy and time-efficient purchasing experience. Thanks to this, companies acquire Quest’s solutions under $2 million without issuing a request for proposal (RFP).

To the state and local government, K-12 education institutions and higher education institutions, the SLP provides easy access to Quest’s portfolio of IT management solutions. These solutions include desktop/server virtualization solutions; application performance management solutions; and Windows management solutions.

“DGS and Quest are committed to working together to make software procurement more responsive and cost-effective to our state and local government partners,” Lower said.

Quest Software simplifies and reduces the cost of managing IT for more than 100,000 customers worldwide. The company’s solutions make it easier to solve the toughest IT management problems, enabling customers to save time and money across physical, virtual and cloud environments.

This year in May, the company released a new version of LiteSpeed for SQL Server, which offers multi-instance backup management so DBAs can apply consistent backup strategies across the SQL Server environment.
