Software licensing leader Flexera Software will be joined by a special guest speaker from CPU Technology this week as the two host a webinar called “Speed Time to Market While Growing Revenues Through Device Monetization.” The webinar will take place at 2 p.m. EST Thursday, May 19.

Participants will discover that high-tech manufacturers can increase revenue by monetizing capacities and capabilities on devices, whether they are implemented in hardware, firmware or software, according to company officials. Moreover, manufactures can learn how to lower their inventory costs and streamline the process by reducing the number of hardware variations while still offering a variety of models to multiple markets at different price points.

Vikram Koka, vice president of research and development at Flexera Software, where he is responsible for engineering for the FlexNet Producer Suite for High-Tech Manufacturers, will lead the webinar. He will be joined by J Ryan Kenny is a product manager at CPU Tech, a leader in anti-tamper processor solutions.

Some of the topics that will be addressed include: what trends and challenges are facing high-tech manufacturers and embedded developers; how software licensing, provisioning, device lifecycle and entitlement management helps address those challenges, and how creative equipment licensing and lifecycle management approaches can cut costs and improve competitive positions.Attendees will also learn about ways to create incremental revenue streams by monetizing devices, software applications and feature enhancements as well as enable their end customers to electronically manage and service feature and capacity requests on-demand, company officials state. Koka brings much experience to the webinar. Prior to joining the software licensing company, Koka served as the chief architect for Macrovision across all its product lines, including the DRM, video and game distribution offerings, in addition to software licensing. Koka has also held senior engineering or technical management positions at large companies such as Silicon Graphics (SGI), and LSI Logic as well as startups such as CellMania and SmartDB.

Kenny, who joined CPU Tech in 2009, is currently responsible for developing security requirements and certification roadmaps for the Acalis line of secure embedded processors at CPU Tech.

In other software licensing news, a recent Flexera Software blog post highlighted how small changes to software licensing model can in fact have a big affect on the bottom line.

Flexera, the leading provider of strategic solutions for Application Usage Management, helps application producers and their customers strategically manage application usage to achieve continuous compliance, optimized usage and maximized value. In a recent post, the software licensing company argues that changes can be made to license models for little to no cost and, accordingly, it makes financial and logical sense to review the software licensing portfolio on a regular basis to be sure the company has positioned itself and its offerings as effectively as possible in a rapidly evolving market.
