Applied Voice & Speech Technologies (AVST) has announced that its CX-E 8.5 UC platform has completed session initiation protocol (SIP) interoperability testing with BroadSoft’s (News - Alert) BroadWorks communications application server.
The company aims to accelerate the adoption of hybrid cloud-based unified communication (UC) solutions by medium and large enterprises. This latest interoperability is one of the many joint initiatives that AVSR is undertaking to achieve its aim.
“With the sizable and growing percentage of medium and large enterprises looking to deploy UC within a hybrid cloud configuration, it's imperative that AVST interoperates with BroadSoft to provide our customers with the most flexible options for their approach to UC deployment,” said Tom Minifie (News - Alert), chief technology officer at AVST.
Interoperating with the BroadWorks platform, CX-E offers unified messaging, speech recognition, personal assistant and business process integration applications.
The company states that CX-E offers a “higher level of interoperability.” The platform has been developed to support telephony switches, email and business applications, on premises and in the public cloud. “Our CX-E provides the flexibility to support both cloud and premises-based solutions,” Minifie said.
Hybrid cloud UC deployments are a mix of private cloud and public cloud components. According to a new Gartner (News - Alert) report, “Private Cloud Matures, Hybrid Cloud is Next,” it is expected that around three-fourths of large companies are likely to have hybrid deployments by 2015.
Leslie Ferry (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at BroadSoft, said that this interoperability provides the joint customers with the flexibility and simplicity to migrate their selected UC components to the public cloud at their own pace, and then add additional features and services as end-user demand increases.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was seeking to shift its network to a cloud UC environment. The University, according to company officials, has become the first customer of AVST (News - Alert) to deploy the new BroadWorks integration with CX-E, which is enabling the calculated migration of the University’s telephony system to the cloud.
“We needed a vendor that could help bridge our communications infrastructure to the future, and AVST's interoperability with BroadWorks helped us achieve our vision for an IP cloud-based telephony solution,” said Cheri Beasley, customer services manager at the University of North Carolina.
