REDCOM (News - Alert) designs and manufactures innovative telecommunications products such as VoIP switch and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based communications technologies. The company is exhibiting some of the latest media gateway and VoIP switch solutions at the 2013 Pacific Telecommunications Council (News - Alert) (PTC) conference, January 20-23 at the Hilton Village Beach Resort & Spa in Honolulu, Hawaii.
One of the products to be showcased is the new SLICE 2100 Micro powered by REDCOM’s TRANSip IP technology suite. The solution provides reliable communications technology to first responders who require an interoperable and highly portable communications node.
SLICE 2100 Micro features an integrated media gateway, media gateway controller, SIP call controller and legacy support. The compact form factor of SLICE 2100 Micro makes it small enough to fit in the overhead compartments of commercial aircraft.
REDCOM will also showcase the HDX and SLICE 2100 next generation VoIP switch solutions. The company claims these are the cost-effective solutions that preserve all the functionality and investment in existing infrastructure.
REDCOM’s HDX is a powerful VoIP switch and SIP call manager that retains complete Class 4/5 capabilities in a single platform. The solution can operate as both a softswitch and an international gateway.
With its ability to deliver up to 3,000 IP subscribers per unit, HDX is an ideal “cap and grow” replacement that facilitates easy migration to VoIP at the most opportune time for carriers. Meanwhile, service providers can retain legacy equipment.
With its HDX or SLICE 2100 migration platform, REDCOM provides Pacific Island service providers with the flexibility to migrate to IP when it makes sense, eliminating forklift replacements, according to company officials.
In one such recent deployment, Telecom Cook Islands (TCI) replaced its legacy NEAX 61 exchange, completing a network transformation to NGN based on REDCOM’s HDX and SLICE 2100 International/IP/End Office softswitches.
“TCI now has the banner network, leading all others in the Asia/Pacific region,” said Charles DeRoller, director of International Sales and Marketing, REDCOM, in a statement.
