Telecom systems seller REDCOM (News - Alert) Laboratories will exhibit its carrier-class softswitch offerings March 6–10 at CeBIT 2012, Hall 13, Stand D32 in Hannover, Germany.
Company officials say they’ll use the prestigious event to showcase the new SLICE IP Micro, which they describe as “a complete Class 4/5 IP Gateway (News - Alert) the size of a hardcover book.”
The SLICE IP Micro is powered by TRANSip, REDCOM’s VoIP technology suite, which is used to integrate IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) elements in a single platform, company officials explain, “bringing call management functionality while offering call setup, control, termination, and directory services for IP subscribers.”
Just one SLICE IP can support up to 3,000 IP subscribers, company officials say, adding that two or three SLICE IP systems can be stacked, working as a single system, and can also stack with REDCOM’s SLICE 2100 system to access TDM or legacy protocols.
Last month TMC (News - Alert) noted that REDCOM officials featured their SLICE IP Micro for transportable IP communications for corporate and private networks, saying that it integrates certain IP Multimedia Subsystem elements and call management functionality, and “puts all the power of a REDCOM SLICE IP into your hands.”
The SLICE IP Micro not only supports up to 3,000 VoIP subscribers, but also dual-stack IPv4/IPv6, and configurable conferencing. Another advantage is just how easily transportable it is for remote communications, company officials pointed out -- along with being powerful enough for corporate applications.
Its compactness is a significant marketing feature, as company officials say “the small footprint of the SLICE IP Micro makes it the product of choice when space is at a premium.”
At the product’s launch in June, TMC’s Stefanie Mosca wrote that “there’s no question that when it comes to housing telecommunication equipment, space is an indispensable prerequisite. The SLICE IP Micro is small and light enough to carry in one hand, and although it may be smaller than most switches in its category, it packs a powerful communications solution that is unprecedented for its size.”
