REDCOM (News - Alert), provider of softswitch and other digital communication systems, has found a way to address the needs of the power utility industry with its integrated, TDM and VoIP ready PBX (News - Alert) platform.
With aspects such as IP communications, wireless and radio constantly evolving and changing the way power utilities operate today, telecommunication systems must comply with multi-technology communication requirements to meet the utility’s needs.
Using REDCOM’s innovative TRANSip IP technology suite, IP and TDM networks as well as radios and wireless communications have the ability to interoperate with one another. TRANSip consists of four core elements integrated into a single system including a Call Controller, Media Gateway (News - Alert), Media Gateway Controller and Legacy Support.
With REDCOM’s softswitch solutions, power utility companies can utilize their existing legacy networks while leveraging next-generation VoIP applications enabling customers to smoothly migrate to IP cost-effectively without compromising service quality and reliability.
The SIP trunking capabilities of REDCOM’s TRANSip technology suite allow power utility companies to scale their telecom system faster and more cost-effectively than with traditional phone lines. SIP trunks are used to connect two switches together and to connect them to the Internet.
REDCOM’s multi-technology solutions also offer conferencing capabilities that allow power utility networks to set up conferencing with multiple participants simultaneously. Conferencing provides a powerful tool for communication, collaboration, and training.
REDCOM’s Radio Interface provides a simple and reliable connection between REDCOM’s switching systems and two-way radio systems. According to the company, this feature allows any phone in the REDCOM system to dial out to a remote radio, or allows a radio to dial directly into the system and ring a phone, make an outside call, or call another remote radio system.
“Reliable communications is critical to the day-to-day operations of power utilities. REDCOM systems are designed to withstand extreme operating conditions. And, with redundant processors, REDCOM’s Communications Solutions offer industry-leading reliability (99.999 percent) providing protection against a single point of failure,” the company noted.
