Vodafone India recently announced its launch of Bubbly Social Messaging service. Bubbly is the product of Bubble Motion (News - Alert), a leader in mobile social communications. This new social messaging service will be available to the operator’s 130 million subscribers.
Bubbly social messaging platform is sometimes described as a “voice-based Twitter (News - Alert).” This messaging service allows any individual to share status updates in their own voice. So a celebrity or a fan can follow others using any mobile phone without downloading any application for its use. This allows all celebrities to be in touch with their fans over a “Bubbly,” and fans in return can connect with their screen idols more closely with their voice. This service will be launched in Vodafone (News - Alert) India’s mobile networks.
Lots of stars from all walks of life have started using this voice blogging service. Major stars include Amitabh Bachchan, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra from the Bollywood circle, TV Personalities (Madhavan), Cricketers (Yuvraj Singh), musicians (Sonu Nigam) and many more have started sharing their voice-recorded updates on a daily basis and keeping their fans updated in an intimate way.
This service allows anyone with a Vodafone India network to stay connected with their own friends and family by just dialing *7* and record their voice. Once they record their voice-clip, all their followers are intimated by an SMS instantly. The SMS will contain the link for them to click and listen to the voice. It’s currently free to start bubbling, and free to follow anyone in their network.
In a release, Bubble Motion’s President and CEO Thomas Clayton (News - Alert) said, “With 8 million Indian users, India is far in front of the rest of the world in adopting bubbling as a social messaging tool. Vodafone has recognized the social mobile groundswell early and have moved swiftly to bring this fun service to their customers.”
This service has become a huge hit in Asia since its launch over a year back. Over 10 million users in India, Indonesia, Philippines, and Japan are using this service.
