By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

Do-it-yourselfer’s Home Depot shopping list:

1. Paint samples
2. Cupboard door handles
3. Sandpaper
4. Packet8/Uniden VoIP phone

VoIP phones at Home Depot? That’s right.

VoIP service provider 8x8, Inc. and wireless electronics manufacturer Uniden today announced the availability of a co-branded VoIP phone at Home Depot stores.

The UIP160P digital, cordless phone comes equipped with 8x8’s Packet8 VoIP technology and full router functionality, giving customers easy access to feature-rich Internet calling plans.

Up to 10 handsets can be added to the UIP60P base station, creating a home-wide VoIP system.

8x8 said in a press release that the suggested retail price for the phone is $99, with a mail-in rebate of $100 available upon activation of a Packet8 service plan.

“Home Depot is the premier destination for all aspects of home improvement and this certainly would include home communications,” 8x8’s vice president of sales and marketing, Hue Rees, said in a press release.
