Sagemcom's XMediusFAX Now Compliant with Avaya Solutions

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Advanced fax solutions for IP networks provider Sagem-Interstar (Sagemcom Group) has announced that its XMediusFAX software only T.38 FoIP server solutions are now compliant with key IP telephony solutions from Avaya, a global business applications, systems and services provider.

The XMediusFAX FoIP solutions deliver cost-effective and efficient processes for mission-critical enterprise faxing at the office, at home or on the road. XMediusFAX FoIP server software solutions have been compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Aura Communication Manager 5.2.1 and Avaya Aura SIP Enablement Services 5.2.1 using SIP and ISDN-PRI trunking, along with Avaya Media Gateways.

The International Avaya and Heritage Nortel User Groups are hosting The Art of Evolution/Global Connect (News - Alert) 2010 from April 18 to April 22, in Denver, Colo. The patented T.38 XMediusFAX FoIP solutions will be showcased in Booth 603.

'Our green-optimized XMediusFAX IP fax server solutions are the perfect fit for Avaya's open, standards-based platform,' said Jean Champagne, general manager of Sagemcom Group, in a statement.

'XMediusFAX FoIP benefits businesses with Avaya Unified Communications (News - Alert) infrastructures by enhancing productivity, streamlining operations, and lowering total cost of ownership. All this is important in the context of today's stringent regulatory compliances, evolving UC and ECM infrastructure strategies, and diverse requirements for integration with MFP, ERP/CRM, virtualization and SIP trunking networking applications,' Champagne continued.

The American Chartered Bank is one company benefitting from the interoperability of XMediusFAX FoIP and Avaya solutions. This premier bank with 14 locations in the northwest Illinois suburban corridor relies heavily on faxing to send thousands of pages of sensitive information and other banking documents every month.

'XMediusFAX promised to offer 'seamless integration.' Now that we have the solution up and running, we know this is absolutely true. The installation process was very quick and did not require much work within Avaya Communication Manager,' said Gary Peters, second vice president, information systems, American Chartered Bank.

'Everyone likes the way they can now receive faxes directly into their email boxes and only print those items that they absolutely need to print.  The product does everything that was promised and is very easy to administer.'

Sagem-Interstar is a member of the Avaya DevConnect (News - Alert) program. This initiative was created in order to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company's investment in its network.

'By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like Sagem (News - Alert)-Interstar who are members of our DevConnect program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities,' said Eric Rossman (News - Alert), vice president, developer relations, Avaya.

In other Sagemcom news, the company partnered with Sequans, a 4G chipmaker, to release new WiMAX devices manufactured by Sagemcom and based on Sequans' semiconductor solutions, to customers in Europe and Asia.

The company demonstrated its XMediusFAX Release 6.5 Fax over IP software in booth E14 at Cisco Live 2010 Barcelona, which ran through Jan. 28. There, Sagemcom officials confirmed how the software can enhance enterprise unified communications in high availability and disaster recovery scenarios.
