Understanding FoIP Survivability

By Kelly McGuire, TMCnet Editor

TMC’s (News - Alert) ITEXPO West conference session titled “Tailoring Fax over IP Survivability,” to be held at 10:30 a.m. (PT), Thursday, Sept. 3, will highlight the need for IT/network administrators, architects and business leaders to better understand the tradeoffs associated with different FoIP systems.

As attendees will learn, the adoption of a specific “survivability” strategy should not compromise the overall fax server solution’s scalability features and security attributes. This technical presentation will reveal the parameters of IP-optimized, fax “survivability” solutions for accelerating the ROI case for UC, bearing in mind today’s economic challenges.

Speed of communication is critical to success in today’s competitive and ever evolving global business world. That being said, in order to cost-efficiently, but accurately, process contracts, invoices, purchase orders and other documents, Fax over IP, or “FoIP,” is a solution that offers exactly what organizations need.

Sagem-Interstar’s John Nikolopoulos, director, marketing and product management, with more than 20 years of U.S. and Canada-based telecom experience, will be presenting the session.

Sagem (News - Alert)-Interstar is a leader in “boardless” SIP-based IP fax systems. It offers email-based IP fax systems, desktop faxing solutions and fax outsourcing, catering to businesses and service providers of all sizes.

Nikolopoulos’ session will cover how Sagem-Interstar’s (News - Alert) “boardless” SIP-based IP fax solutions deliver several key capabilities for protecting enterprise fax communications. This presentation will educate attendees on the parameters of IP-optimized, fax “survivability” solutions for accelerating the ROI case for UC, bearing in mind today’s economic challenges.

In a recent interview, Nikolopoulos explained what “survivability” means.

“Survivability is a critical yet often misunderstood topic of discussion involving business decision makers and IT administrators/architects alike,” he said. “A concerted effort has been made to introduce fundamentals, both at the technology and business level. Some advanced technology topics are also reviewed focusing on various networking tradeoffs.”

The topic of fax survivability, including different strategies for achieving it, is also explored in a new application guide from Sagem-Interstar, posted to the company’s website. To access this detailed overview of Sagem-Interstar XMediusFAX’s survivability capabilities, click here.

In addition Sagem-Interstar will be holding the third in a three-part webcast series, “Advanced FoIP Networking Considerations: Cisco (News - Alert) AXP-SRST, FoIP Survivability, MGCP,” presented by David Hanes of Cisco and Matthew Miller of Sagem-Interstar, at 1 p.m., ET, Thursday, Oct. 15. IT managers or business leaders who wish to gain a better appreciation of the emerging survivability solutions now available in the rapidly growing FoIP market should attend Nikolopoulos’ session at ITEXPO (News - Alert) tomorrow.
