DSP Group, Inc. (DSPG) recently announced that its CAT-iq 2.0 DECT (News - Alert) chipset solutions have been selected by Sagemcom in the development of advanced home gateways (HGW) featuring HD voice capabilities.

Sagemcom is an international high-technology group which focuses in the development of broadband, telecom and energy solutions.

In a statement, Ahmed Selmani, deputy CEO at Sagemcom Broadband, said that, "The design of DSP Group's (News - Alert) CAT-iq module enabled us to optimize time to market by providing HD Voice and CAT-iq solutions to our customers, enhancing their overall quality of experience for voice services. We've also been able to leverage DSP Group's CAT-iq expertise to smoothly certify our devices as compliant with the latest CAT-iq standards.”

Sagemcom, which has designed its advanced home gateways for use by leading operators, will essentially integrate DECT CAT-iq module from DSP Group to support delivery of HD voice and network services within its home terminals.

The handsets will support shared phone book, call logs and multi-line services, in addition to firmware upgradability, among other advanced features.

"We are very excited that Sagemcom strengthened our partnership by choosing our DECT solution for its advanced home gateways,” said Jan Abelev, corporate VP of Product Management at DSP Group. “This integration allows operators to improve their home offerings with fully-featured DECT CAT-iq-enabled home gateways and handsets. Moreover, by leveraging our seamless software upgrade to DECT-ULE (Ultra Low Energy), service providers adopting Sagemcom's solutions can further enrich their platforms with new value added services like home control and automation.”

The highly integrated CAT-iq 2.0 chipset has been developed as a single-chip solution and is a part of DSP Group's advanced XceedR cordless chipset family. Sporting a small form-factor, the DECT CAT-iq module offers easy and affordable integration with a number of broadband residential gateways, and comes with a number of CAT-iq firmware and reference software features which serve to reduce R&D costs and time to market, while ensuring greater standards compliance.
