ITEXPO: Sagemcom Faxes With the Cloud

By Robbie Pleasant, TMCnet Contributor

While e-mail may be the most common form of communication between colleagues, it’s not the most secure. That honor still belongs to fax, and Sagemcom knows it. Of course, fax still needs to keep up with online and cloud technology, but once again, Sagemcom has that covered.

Sagemcom provides IP fax broadband and telecom services. It’s been doing so since 2002, when it helped pioneer the fax server industry. Its solutions leverage Cisco and Avaya (News - Alert) platforms and IP/PBX systems, connecting fax machines to the Internet with a simple installation. While its flagship product is the XMediusFAX, an on-premise solution that digitizes fax systems to send faxes to email or another machine, it’s introducing a new cloud solution at ITEXPO (News - Alert).

With the new cloud solution from Sagemcom, users can log in through a secure portal to fax through the cloud. While other fax service companies offer hosted solutions, this one is entirely cloud-based, but loses no functionality. It’s a complete enterprise-grade solution, offering all the functionality of their on-premise solution, and ideal for healthcare, financial, legal, transportation, and manufacturing; basically, any industry that’s become too paper-intensive.

While it may receive some competition from other fax service companies, Sagemcom pays more attention to what its customers want than what its competitors offer. There’s no competition from digital signatures, as e-mail and file transfers still lack the security that fax can offer. In fact, many legal and medical organizations deal in fax for just this reason; after all, a skilled hacker can break into someone’s email, but a fax is a good deal harder to steal.

Sagemcom offers a secure choice for companies needing to send faxes. Its cloud solution provides enterprise-class functionality to small and mid-sized businesses without the expenses usually required for servers, installation, and so on, as well as being an environmentally friendly choice. ITEXPO has just begun, so keep an eye out for Sagemcom’s announcement and presentation.
