The demand for smartphones continues to grow in India, which is considered one of the hottest cell phone markets. Media reports indicate that this craze has been growing at a remarkable rate for the last couple of years, as big consumer players like Apple (News - Alert), Samsung, and Nokia are major suppliers to this market. Lately, Samsung and Nokia are promoting dual SIM-enabled cell phones in India.
Using two SIM cards in a single cell phone is gaining popularity in India because it allows a single handset to handle both a personal and a business number. Thus, it saves some money for the user by combining two different plans or network carriers.
Consequently, to further increase its share of the growing Indian smartphones market, South Korean electronics giant Samsung (News - Alert) is gearing up to launch the dual SIM version of its power-packed smartphone, Galaxy Mega 6.3. In fact, India’s consumer gadgets site Jagran Post reported that the dual SIM version of Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is expected to hit Indian markets soon.
According to this report, Samsung launched both Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.3 in India recently. While Galaxy Mega 5.8 lets the user enjoy dual-SIM function, the Mega 6.3 offers a slot for single SIM. As per the report, the Mega 6.3 is loaded with performance-rich features and its massive 6.3-inch display provides resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
Other key features of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 include a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, 1.5 GB on-board RAM (News - Alert), an 8 megapixel (MP) camera on the rear with features like auto-focus, 1.9 MP front-facing camera, and LED Flash. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 smartphone runs on Android (News - Alert) 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Plus, it delivers excellent connectivity via GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and USB 2.0, and its internal memory of 8 GB can be expanded as well.
Samsung’s 3,200 mAh Li-ion battery-powered smartphone is presently priced at Rs 30,890 (US $518). The dual SIM version may cost a little more.
