Ingate Systems announced that its Enterprise Session Border Controllers can provide a reliable means of communication between services and are also effective in Unified Communications (News - Alert) or UC. They also serve situations where SIP trunk service providers deploy SIP trunks employing only IP addresses in the SIP addressing fields.
According to Steven Johnson (News - Alert), president of Ingate Systems, Enterprise Session Border Controllers or E-SBCs sit at the edge of the network to provide control over the SIP traffic. Initially they were more useful in providing firewall protection for SIP-based voice networks. Now they help extensively in optimizing SIP deployments.
Also E-SBCs can provide a seamless format conversion of TCP to UDP (News - Alert), and change IPs to FQDNs, working along with the Internet Telephony Service Provide or ITSP service and Microsoft Lync 2010 solution.
In a release Johnson said, “We recently worked with Northern Michigan Substance Abuse Services, Inc. in a great example of how the Ingate E-SBC (the SIParator), working hand-in-hand with SIP trunks from BBTelsys, provided the critical integration necessary for SIP trunks to work with Microsoft (News - Alert) OCS. NMSAS was using Microsoft OCS 2007 to converge their voice and data”
“The SIParator enabled SIP trunking by resolving Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal of SIP traffic. It provided a seamless format conversion of TCP/IP to UDP, enabling seamless integration between BBTelsys service and NMSAS’s existing Microsoft OCS solution,” he added.
The Ingate’s SIP Trunk Software module, also normalizes the SIP signaling between the IP-PBX (News - Alert), the Microsoft OCS server and the BBTelsys service thereby solving interoperability issues. The SIParator also offers security to the voice-over-IP (VoIP) calls made over the SIP trunk.
Company sources further added that with growth in demand for Microsoft Lync 2010, enterprises and service providers can deploy an E-SBC which will help in the transition from OCS to Lync and also help in the interoperability between the IP-PBX and SIP trunk service.
Ingate Enterprise Session Border Controllers sit at the edge of the network to provide control over SIP traffic. It is a SIP-capable E-SBC and will serve optimally as a normalization engine or universal adapter between any IP-PBX and the SIP trunk for supporting requirements for authentication and signaling
