Benefits of the Service Broker Forum

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Web Editor

The Service Broker Forum is an association that’s goal is to educate professionals in the telecommunication industry on the service broker product category. The Service Broker Forum reaches its members through the sharing of ideas, opinions, and knowledge.

The forum is founded and run by leaders in the Service Broker industry and serves as a platform to ask and answer questions that lead to discussions on how to utilize and benefit from Service Brokers.

The Service Broker Forum’s interactive discussion board allows members to ask a question or post a comment to already existing questions from other members. It’s a great way to meet professionals in the same market space while keeping up on the latest in Service Broker news, technology and solutions.

According to a question posted to the Service Broker’s discussion forum the Service Broker Forum has already defined the architecture and fundamental functionality of a service broker.  The mission now for the Forum is to continue to evangelize this architecture, functionality and overall benefits that a service broker delivers to a service provider and their network transformation strategy.  Individual member companies influence the standards through their respective standard bodies’ participation in terms of upcoming plans for the platform, Tamye Oshman, of Metaswitch, says

Another question asked on the forum was in regards to the deployment of LTE voice in relation to Service Brokers. Jonathan Bell of OpenCloud (News - Alert) explained the current view is that LTE deployments will likely be a great catalyst for IMS deployments, and will rely on the IMS architecture.  The Service Broker will play a crucial role in allowing these LTE (News - Alert)/IMS networks to leverage existing applications on the legacy PSTN networks.  The IM-SSF functionality can leverage to extend applications (such as PrePaid from the GSM/CMDA networks) to new LTE customers.  It’s easy to envision offering an existing mobile subscriber an upgrade to LTE that uses the same prepaid application, and hence exact same user experience.

As you can see from these examples, the Service Broker Forum is an informative and helpful platform for professionals in the Service Broker industry to stay up to date on what’s going on in the Service Broker market.  Stayed tuned to the Service Broker channel on TMCnet for all the latest on service broker news.
