We’ve come a long way from the days of postal mail and landline telephone calls. Now we not only have mobile phones and social networks, but we can conduct video conferences easily, chat by text or instant messenger service, and even send files to each other without the need for the postman or a currier. Our communication options have exploded.
From a business standpoint, much of this talk of the benefits of unified communication and rich communications suites (RCS) centers on improving communication with customers and partners. But communication among employees should not be overlooked, and if fact it offers one of the most compelling use cases for RCS.
This is not to minimize the importance of RCS to connect with partners and customers; RCS enables businesses to seamlessly communicate with business partners in a way that makes these partners seem almost like in-house employees.
So, too, does RCS make for a richer customer experience. Enabling customers to interact with customer support agents via RCS delivers a level of service that can greatly improve the customer experience and personalize a business.
Perhaps the best use case for RCS is what it can do to help employees interact with each other better, however.
Busines silos never were a good development, but now they can quickly cripple a business. Innovation and nimbleness are key drivers of business success in 2014, and this places a heavy requirement on coworker communication; employees need to be able to easily communicate with employees outside their immediate department and share information faster than ever. Collaboration is both the key of innovation and also of adaptation.
Supporting that are RCS technologies such as VoipSwitch’s RCS Android (News - Alert) Dialer. It enables any worker with an Android phone to easily connect with other employees in the office or stationed elsewhere in the world.
The company has recently added group chat to its RCS offering, making it even easier for employees to collaborate and create ad-hoc work teams. With group chat, the VoipSwitch RCS dialer can enable employees to easily chat with several coworkers at the same time and push a file to all who need it without having to send the file one by one.
Such functionality is key to enabling collaboration, and collaboration is a cornerstone of successful business these days. While RCS is great for working with partners and communicating with customers, its use in-house should not be underestimated.
