Mavenir Systems (News - Alert), a provider of software-based networking solutions, recently announced that T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT), a major Croatian telecommunications company, has chosen HSS-FE (Home Subscriber Server-Front End) for its IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) to enhance its communications services.
“Mavenir’s suite of software-based IMS application servers provide the flexibility and innovation to accelerate time to market and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by minimizing network impacts and reducing complexity,” said Pardeep Kohli, Mavenir president and CEO. “Within the T-HT mobile network, we are proud to support the next-generation network and services for their mobile customers.”
The IMS will enable T-HT, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert), to deliver advanced services like VoLTE and rich communications services. The HSS, based on Mavenir’s mOne convergence platform, will allow T-HT to consolidate its subscriber data onto one platform while increasing reliability.
“We are pleased to support key enhancements for our subscribers such as roaming as well as the introduction of new services for mobile customers,” said Nenad Silbar, head of core network planning at T-HT. “With Mavenir’s HSS-FE, we are continuing to meet our goal of driving innovation while reducing our CAPEX/OPEX (News - Alert) at the same time.”
In other words, T-HT will spend less money deploying its advanced rich communication services, and also spend less money on operating these services when they are deployed. T-HT is also deploying Home Subscriber Servers (HSS) to keep track of authorizations, service profiles and preferences along with mobile authentication.
Wireless customers around the world are switching to more advanced devices like smartphones and tablets. These devices place heavy demands on their networks, and carriers find themselves struggling to keep up. Solutions like Mavenir’s will ultimately enable carriers to keep their customers happy and offer even more advanced services. It it’s cheaper and easier to deploy these services, carriers like T-HT will deploy more next-generations services to their customers, spurring further adoption by customers in turn.
