The ways in which businesses communicate today are becoming increasingly unified, and that unification doesn’t stop at office phone lines and email. The modern workforce is turning to a wide variety of mobile communication solutions, and as a result the companies that employ them are too.
D2 Technologies (News - Alert), which provides embedded IP communications software platforms, has made great strides in building seamless mobile communications systems for companies, demonstrating through its own solution how IP-based communications such as RCS, VoLTE, VoWiFi, and video calling can be combined with traditional GSM CS and SMS communications to deliver a truly all-encompassing, user-friendly communications system. This unified solution, D2’s mCUE 4G embedded software, utilizes all of those rich call and messaging features natively in mobile handsets to offer a completely seamless user experience.
Now, D2 is furthering the clean integration of its solution with the successful completion of interoperability testing with Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert), an IP networking, ultra-broadband access and cloud technology provider. The testing covers key elements of the VoLTE and RCS IMS profiles of both the native and downloadable versions of D2's mCUE 4G client software. By combining the mCUE 4G software client with Alcatel-Lucent's IMS infrastructure, the two companies create increasingly interoperable VoLTE and RCS functionality for service providers, who can now more quickly and efficiently commercialize advanced IMS capabilities on 4G LTE (News - Alert) networks.
“By emphasizing native support for RCS and VoLTE, we can ensure that mobile phone users are able to take full advantage of an optimized and richer communications experience that's built into the phone," said Doug Makishima (News - Alert), chief operating officer for D2 Technologies. "Alcatel-Lucent is poised to push the needle forward for VoLTE and RCS adoption worldwide. By working to ensure that mCUE 4G is compatible with Alcatel-Lucent's technologies, D2 continues to be positioned at the leading edge of global IMS commercialization."
Alcatel-Lucent’s general manager of IMS business, Fran Heeran (News - Alert), added that one purpose of the interoperability testing was to “extend the HD voice and video benefits of VoLTE and next generation IP based communication experiences provided by RCS to more mobile devices and users."
"It's helping to extend rapid innovation in communications across voice, video, messaging and content sharing that will drive a whole new generation of personalized, ultra broadband services," Heeran concluded.
