Spirent Communication’s 8100 Mobile Device Test System has been selected by test lab SGS to expand its VoLTE/IMS and TDD-LTE (News - Alert) testing capabilities. With this system, the lab hopes to better support major carriers who want to launch IMS/VoLTE services.
SGS is an accredited laboratory for wireless testing and certification, delivering test services to enable wireless operators to provide timely test certification for their customers.
Michael Spitzer, global wireless manager at SGS said, “We view the goal to successfully rollout LTE as setting a new bar for us in supporting the wireless network operators and device manufacturers.”
“The quality of preparation and collaboration in the industry will directly map to the QoS delivered to each and every mobile user. We recognize Spirent (News - Alert)'s shared interest and dedication and have chosen their 8100 solution to assist in the realization of VoLTE,” Spitzer added.
Wireless operators using VoLTE are compelled to provide higher-quality services than what is available to mobile users at present. The Spirent 8100 is suitable for all variants of LTE (FDD-LTE, TDD-LTE and LTE-Advanced) and can accommodate complex interoperability issues between LTE and legacy technologies like CDMA and EVDO.
To optimize IMS/VoLTE services, Spirent has partners with authorized labs designated by major carriers for conducting conformance testing of VoLTE, VoLTE E911 and RCS.
“Understanding the pressure on network operators and device manufacturers, Spirent has made a deliberate push to deliver the most proficient test capabilities to the leading authorized labs, including critical features such as VoLTE E911, TDD-LTE and IRAT mobility,” explained Rajat Agarwal, director of product management at Spirent Communications (News - Alert).
Spirent’s partnership with SGS will augment the support that is offered to carriers and their ecosystems in the successful rollout of VoLTE. Also the Spirent VoLTE/IMS portfolio delivers all the test capabilities that match industry standards and operator specific areas such as IMS, RCS, Audio Quality and VoLTE E911.
