Neusoft Mobile Solutions a subsidiary of Neusoft Corporation received the Silver Award from GSMA (News - Alert) joyn Innovation Challenge for its “Family joyn” client, which will expand the communication capability in the daily life of users.
The joyn Innovation Challenge was launched to encourage innovations based on Rich Communication Suite (News - Alert) (RCS). This initiative encouraged mobile and Web app developers and technology innovators to leverage the capabilities of joyn in order to create a more innovative offering.
The new service was designed using the joyn innovation accelerator. Developers were allowed to use APIs on a live GSMA Rich Communication Services network. Since these APIs were standard, new services could be transferred easily to a live operator commercial network.
Neusoft’s Family joyn client will be most useful for family members who are vulnerable and who are dependent on others, including children and elders.
Antti Miikkulainen, customer services manager of Neusoft, said, “The approach for the innovation was set to be very practical and the ground-rule was to create something that can be actually used within real-life. Actually the whole idea then started from the daily need at home.”
Family joyn features a simple and locked RCS user-interface that makes the right functions continuously available. Important contacts are always available under one-click to make immediate voice and video share possible. Also, the RCS real-live location information pull lets parents get continuous information about the location of their children.
The Neusoft Family joyn solution enables the reuse of two- to three-year-old returned subscription phones to be used as Family joyn phones. Also, the provision of a “Lifetime SIM” helps decrease churn. The solution improves RCS knowledge and penetration.
In related news, Neusoft and Mformation Software Technologies completed an interoperability testing (IOT) of a wide range of RCS-e services using Neusoft’s joyn-accredited RCS client with Mformation’s (News - Alert) advanced mobile device management (MDM) server.
RCS services marketed under the joyn brand provide a discrete set of IP-based services to mobile subscribers that go beyond voice and SMS to include instant messaging/chat, live video sharing and file transfer across any device, on any network, with anyone in their mobile address book. These services provide a stepping-stone to the full IP-based video and messaging infrastructure that full implementation of RCS will bring to market. Cross-network and device interoperability is a critical aspect of this infrastructure and is ensured by a rigorous certification program provided by the GSMA.
