Verizon (News - Alert) recently announced it will now be using Motorola Mobility’s SecureMedia Encryptonite ONE HLS+ to secure FiOS Flex View multiscreen content service.
Verizon's Flex View lets FiOS (News - Alert) customers buy or rent more than 25,000 on-demand titles, including movies and TV shows, and watch them on their TV, PC and mobile device.
SecureMedia’s Encryptonite ONE HLS+ solution provides a streamlined process for service providers to ingest, transcode and securely deliver live and on-demand content via standard HTTP methods and infrastructure.
SecureMedia has added layers of its award-winning Encryptonite ONE digital rights management protection to the specified HLS encryption method to meet the stringent security requirements of Hollywood studios and major broadcasters for licensing and distribution of their premium content.
"Now, more than ever, content protection is absolutely necessary to deliver today's entertainment to multiple screens," said Peter Burke, VP of Product Management, Converged Solutions, Motorola (News - Alert) Mobility. "Our Medios portfolio is dedicated to helping our service provider partners like Verizon meet consumer demand for multiscreen experiences. Customized clients for various devices (including Android smartphones and tablets, Apple (News - Alert) iPad / iPhone /iPod, game consoles and hybrid set-top boxes) leverage native HLS players where possible or provide HLS playback capability where none previously existed, and all with Encryptonite ONE System DRM protection.
"We're thrilled to offer our FiOS TV customers the best in film and TV, at the highest quality, streamed with Flex View," said Maitreyi Krishnaswamy, director of Consumer Video Services for Verizon.
