There will be one billion HTML5-capable phones sold in 2013, according to new research from Strategy Analytics (News - Alert). The number represents a huge increase from the 336 million units sold in 2011. Gartner Research has predicted that mobile Web access will surpass traditional PC access by 2013. Furthermore, while the number of PCs accessing the Web is predicted to be 1.78 billion units in 2013, the combined installed base of smartphones and browser-equipped enhanced phones is expected to exceed 1.82 billion units- surpassing PC access by almost 100 million units. Needless to say, mobility is here to stay and grow.
