D2 Technologies, a provider of embedded IP communications software platforms, announced it has upgraded its mCUE mobile unified communications client.
mCUE, according to company officials, is a complete IP video calling solution offering a number of benefits to OEMs, ODMs and service providers. It supports industry standard voice and video CODECs and offers wideband CODECs for high definition voice and an industry leading Acoustic Echo Canceller (AEC).
"OEMs, ODMs, service providers and D2's interoperability partners continue to reap the benefits of incorporating production-ready products such as mCUE into their designs, letting them or their customers deliver new devices to market more quickly and economically than their competitors," said Doug Makishima (News - Alert), chief operating officer for D2 Technologies, in a statement.
“Thanks to its growing popularity, mCUE is now shipping commercially or is production ready for 4G smartphones, retail PoS terminals and desktop IP media phones,” Makishima added.
The mobile unified communications client is interoperable with leading IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) cores and delivers carrier-grade quality and multi-protocol support for 4G IMS/RCS/VoLTE, SIP, VCC, Skype (News - Alert) and popular social networks and enterprise UC/IPPBX systems.
mCUE is now shipping for Android OS mobile handsets, tablets, IP media phones and connected TVs/STBs. It also supports Apple iOS for the iPhone (News - Alert) and iPad.
Additional enhancements include multi-party video conferencing functionality (both ad hoc and server-based) via a platform-optimized embedded media engine. The media engine can operate on the broadest range of 4G wireless like Wi-Fi, WiMAX, LTE, and other advanced technologies, as well as high-speed wired broadband networks like xDSL, Cable and xPON.
Company officials say the latest upgrade also extends mCUE’s top tier application support for processors from companies such as Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Freescale Semiconductor (News - Alert), Marvell and Texas Instruments Incorporated.
mCUE is enhanced with RCS functionality, including video calling capabilities and enhanced Network Address Book integration (NAB). The mobile unified communications solution also supports 4G VoIP calling, and it will be fully compliant with Voice over LTE (VOLTE) by Q4 2011.
Earlier this year, D2 Technologies announced partnership with Freescale Semiconductor to offer a solution that features Freescale’s i.MX53 processor enhanced with D2’s mCUE converged communications client. The platform offers OEMs, ODMs and service providers a production-ready solution for devices delivering high definition voice and IP video calling features, company officials said.
