Syniverse, the provider of mobile communication solutions for mobile operators, cable and Internet providers, announced in a press release that company’s Chief Network Architect BJ Neal is going to represent Syniverse (News - Alert) in the Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) at the U.S. Government’s Emergency Response Interoperability Center (ERIC). He will continue to serve Synivers as the company’s chief network architect while serving on the PSAC.
In his new role, Neal will be helping Federal Communications Commission (FCC (News - Alert)) in its development of LTE standards. He will be responsible for setting technical requirements and operational procedures for developing nationwide interoperability for an LTE (News - Alert)-based wireless broadband network. The U.S. public safety agencies at the local, state and national levels will be required to comply with these standards in their mobile communications, the company noted in a press release.
He will also offer technical recommendations on a few other subjects such as the adoption and implementation of standards in roaming, priority access, gateway functions and interfaces.
His recommendations will also be considered for setting standards in the interconnectivity of public safety broadband networks and other matters related to the functioning of the nationwide public safety broadband network.
Other areas where Neal’s recommendations will be used include the adoption of authentication and encryption requirements for common public safety broadband applications and network use and the coordination of ERIC’s policies with other entities, including other federal agencies
“I am honored to represent Syniverse on this committee, and to bring my own LTE expertise as well as the company’s rich experience developing LTE standards to this important work supporting the nation’s emergency response preparedness. When public safety is involved, it is imperative to have seamless connectivity. LTE provides the increased bandwidth capacity needed to ease congestion and ensure reliable, seamless communications that are necessary for inter-agency communications among safety officials, particularly during emergencies,” Neal said in a statement.
Through a separate release, Syniverse announced its intention of releasing its confidential 2010 annual report on its new secure investor website on or before March 21, 2011. Syniverse also announced its intention of posting annual reports, quarterly reports and current reports that are required to be provided to holders and prospective purchasers of the Notes pursuant to the Indenture on its secure investor website.
