Who Turned Out the Lights? Ritz-Carlton Suffers Power Outage

Ensuring that your business or home has a reliable power protection plan in place no matter the reason behind the outage can mean the difference between suffering from virtually no downtime whatsoever or sitting around, twiddling your thumbs as you await the power-related problem to be remedied. The latter is exactly what happened recently at The Ritz-Carlton hotel located in Clayton, an inner-ring suburb of St. Louis, Mo.

Without power for nearly an hour, you can bet your bottom dollar that guests and employees alike at the facility were none too happy when they found themselves unable to complete any activity that requires electricity. And what’s more is that the frustrating outage didn’t just affect the hotel, it prompted the entire city of Clayton to nearly shut down after the power went out.

According to Elaine Gamer, director of sales and marketing for The Ritz-Carlton, while the cause of the outage was a 34,000- volt switch that went awry, the situation could have been much worse than it actually was. In fact, if it wasn’t for the hotel’s back-up generators its elevators would have come to a screeching halt. Also, glow sticks that were given to guests came in quite handy as they tried to make their way in and around the building.

As presumably hotel visitors were probably more than a little peeved, I am assuming the nearly 3,000 customers that found themselves without power in the surrounding area were pretty miffed as well. And that is exactly where Minuteman Power Technologies could have swooped in to the rescue like a modern day Superman. Highlighted as powering an array of power protection and management products, since 1982 the company has been offering users single-phase UPS products that are available from 400VA to 24KVA, while its three-phase UPSs are available from 10kVA to 300kVA.

“Large or small, we can provide you with the most efficiently engineered solutions for each technology or runtime requirement,” Minuteman’s website reveals.

For more information in relation to how the power protection specialist can help you to avoid dealing with the negative results caused from finding your company without power, be sure to visit Minuteman Power Technologies in booth # 232 at the upcoming ESX Nashville event, taking place from June 17-21, 2013 in the Music City Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Run by the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and the Electronic Security Association (ESA), everyone ranging from owners, general management, operations/technical management and sales and marketing management are strongly encouraged to attend the not-to-miss conference.
