VoIP Phone Systems Perfect Choice for Small Businesses

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Small businesses looking to succeed in today’s fiercely competitive marketplace are tasked with offering services that outshine their larger competition while also saving on costs whenever possible.

When it comes to meeting communications needs, choosing a VoIP phone system has been cited by a number of small companies as being especially beneficial.

A VendorGuru.com article, “How VoIP Can Help Your Small Business,” outlines the top 7 benefits cited by small businesses

The first, and often most mentioned benefit, is that of reduced long distance calling costs. Because VoIP phone systems do not require expensive cables and because the calls don’t have to travel long distances over copper wires, its possible to slash overseas call costs.

Next, because VoIP phone systems make use of the Internet to place and receive calls, these phones can be taken on the road with businesses users as they travel. The IP phone system is simply plugged into a data connection or a uses a wireless hot spot – to save small businesses even more money.

Also, VoIP phone systems that include added features like dedicated extensions and auto-attendants can help a smaller company to appear much larger.

According to the VendorGuru.com article, increased collaboration and productivity can also be achieved through the use of VoIP phone systems. This includes the ability to route voicemails to e-mail inboxes, on-the-fly conference calling capabilites and more.

Not just for the businesses user, a VoIP phone system can also improve customer service levels as a phone system allows that for “find-me-follow” and better call routing and transferring can put customers in touch with the right person, quickly.

As VoIP technology has grown in popularity and matured, businesses also no longer need to be concerned about poor call quality or putting burden on Internet data lines – instead, the article notes, by consolidating voice and data transmissions into one line, from one carrier, small businesses can a great amount and compete along side larger businesses.
