iMobileSitter is the new password manager from Fraunhofer (News - Alert) SIT, a provider of access data and password management solutions to individuals and companies.
The robust password manager works on an intelligent password management strategy. Every time a master password is entered, no matter whether it is correct or incorrect, iMobileSitter displays access codes.
Conventional password storage systems can often be cracked using special tools or cloud services. For example, hackers or digital key-recovery services can use the prevalent dictionary attacks to uncover secret passwords and PINs stored in a mobile device or computer.
However, the iMobileSitter password manager utilizes real, random numbers for encryption purposes, so it is not prone to hacking. To generate these numbers and make the access data safe, users need to just shake the iPhone (News - Alert) quickly with a bit of force, company officials said in a release.
To retrieve the access code, one has to enter the correct master password. Hackers, however, will not succeed if they identify the master password because iMobileSitter accepts every password that is entered, making it virtually impossible to decide whether the attempt was successful or not.
According to Fraunhofer, “The fact that the attack was unsuccessful will not become apparent until the hacker tries to use an ATM, and the EC card is withdrawn after three incorrect attempts. The rightful owner, however, knows when they have entered the correct password.”
Another password manager currently flourishing in this space is SplashID Enterprise from SplashData, a provider of enterprise and government access data security solutions. SplashID is an enterprise password management solution that enables IT to have an ultra high level of control over password and security procedures across multiple departments and employee groups that are within an enterprise.
