ManageEngine (News - Alert), an IT management software provider, recently revealed it had upgraded its privileged password manager solution, Password Manager Pro.
Password Manager Pro is a vault designed from the ground up for ManageEngine’s enterprise business customers to allow them to store and manage what the software provider calls, “shared sensitive information”. And the innovative offering now leverages HTML5-powered, first-in-class remote login mechanisms to improve both ease-of-use and security.
With the help of the ManageEngine Password Manager Pro solution, enterprise customers will be able to launch secure, reliable Windows RDP, SSH and Telnet sessions from any HTML5-compatible browser with a single click, without the need for additional plug-in or agent software.
Password Manager Pro now also offers offline access to passwords with auto-synchronization to mobile devices and can integrate into Dropbox (News - Alert).
In addition to remote login improvements, this password manager solution allows for secure offline access to privileged identities, where users can export passwords in the form of an AES-256 encrypted HTML file that can be opened in a browser for offline access.
To enhance security, passwords exported to the offline copy can be automatically reset in the remote systems after a specified time period.
"Despite a strong business case for secure, direct access to remote resources, current solutions in the market require inconvenient and insecure practices like deploying end-point agents, helper programs at user desktops and browser plug-ins to make remote login work," Rajesh Ganesan, director of product management at ManageEngine, said in a press release.
He added, "Ease of use and security have always been orthogonal goals, nevertheless a constant search by IT admins in a space like remote access. Password Manager Pro helps them realize their goals while evolving to be the best remote access solution for various types of systems."
