European enterprises looking for effective networking solutions now may enjoy the benefits of a collaboration between two leading technology companies, InfraGreen and Opengear (News - Alert), which will bring modern solutions that challenge the traditional methods of maintaining these systems.
InfraGreen is a networking company that focuses (aside from normal technological and business goals) on reducing its negative environmental impact as much as possible. The company specializes in building and maintaining cloud-based datacenters as well as expanding global IP infrastructures using fiber optic and Wi-Fi networks. One of the main challenges to their business plan has been providing these services to customers in a way that is efficient and aligns with its environmentally conscious goals, a problem greatly eased by a strategic partnership with Opengear.
Technology pioneer Opengear provides infrastructure management services, utilizing cutting-edge technology such as remote management and monitoring as well as cellular out-of-band products to vastly cut back on the traditional difficulties of network maintenance. Remote management allows issues to be fixed from any location using Wi-Fi, or mobile 3G networks if the client’s Wi-Fi is down. The main benefit of this technique is a drastic reduction in time between when the issue arises and when Opengear can provide a solution, and it eliminates any need for a representative to actually go to the location.
Remote management has also been applied to InfraGreen’s initial setup stage, allowing the company to ship products and then perform configurations from their offices without any travel at all. One of these systems, the Opengear IM4248 Infrastructure Manager for Datacenter Management, has been deployed so far with plans for more incorporation in the future.
An article from Source Security notes that, also in the near future, InfraGreen will establish three data campus sites near Oslo, Norway. Each will be supplied by clean hydro-electric power and directly linked to a dark fiber network, integrated fully with the new possibilities available thanks to Opengear, and making them the first completely carbon-neutral datacenters in all of Europe.
