The protection of your sensitive corporate data should be top of mind when implementing any kind of new technology. Whether your operation is a single location or one that relies on connecting multiple offices onto one platform, information traversing the network has to be protected. When the latter is the norm, out of band management solutions are a necessity.
To that end, Dell (News - Alert) recently announced the rollout of new security tools and enhancements. This move is aimed at enabling businesses to protect their data, regardless of their size, while still allowing necessary access for employees whenever and wherever they need it. These enhancements also include access with any approved device.
According to Top Tech News, these enhanced features include Dell’s Data Protection Cloud Edition with Dropbox (News - Alert) for Business. The company also released new products within its commercial PC line and claims to have the first commercially available product to earn the FIPS-140 Level 3 certified PC with Hardware Crypto Accelerator from the U.S. government.
Executive Director of Client Solutions Software at Dell, Brett Hansen, noted that the company’s focus on security is part of its clear strategy that secure networks are no longer a sole concern of the large enterprise. Cyber security infrastructures are a key focus for SMBs and mid-market organizations as well, especially when out of band management enters the project scope, and protected access to the network is a must.
Dell’s latest innovations not only extend the business capabilities of the user, they also allow for the separation of business and personal data. The Data Protection Cloud Edition into Dropbox for Business extends functionality for employees across a wide variety of mobile devices and operating systems. IT managers can easily remote-wipe a Dropbox account and enable one-click sharing while still driving file-level encryption. This encryption only applies to sensitive company data and not personal files.
The OptiPlex 9030 from Dell is an All-in-One being positioned as the most secure PC in the industry. With advanced comprehensive encryption, authentication and malware prevention from a single source, users can focus on getting their work done and not their level of vulnerability. Combined with the Wyse Cloud Connect personal cloud access device updates, users can take that heightened level of security with them when they transfer to a mobile device.
Such innovations are critical for companies like Opengear (News - Alert) as it makes it that much easier to support protected access with out of band management. The company utilizes the government’s FIPS 140 standard in its security efforts to ensure users can focus on the task at hand and not worry about what unauthorized individual may be getting in and gaining access to corporate data. Eliminating this risk is critical to maintaining the integrity of the distributed network.
