New Maine Call Center Eyes September Launch

The release of August jobs numbers showed that the U.S. economy is continuing to get better and better. It seems likely that there are a number of industries that should receive plaudits for this improvement and chief among them is the call center industry. An industry that was once considered on the way out has bounced back nicely from that prognosis. That is evident in the announcement of a new call center that is opening up in Fort Kent, Maine, that will be filling 90 positions.
Canton, Ohio-based Ameridial has decided to move into a building that used to be occupied by MBNA. The company has already started training the first batch of 45 employees. The firm has said that it plans to have the call center up and running by the middle of September. Michael McCarthy, the vice president for health services for Ameridial recently talked about why his company was setting up a shop in Maine in a recent release saying, “We needed to expand and I knew what the Fort Kent area offered; I have always had good luck here.”
Ameridial offers up a number of different teleservices. It supports voice and data support in the health care, education, financial services and customer products industries along with several others. While the company will likely face the same challenges that other contact centers deal with when it comes to employee turnover, it is possible this is one of the reasons that the firm is hiring the 90 employees in two stages. The second training session of the additional 45 employees is expected to begin within the next two weeks.
Despite a high employee turnover rate across the call center industry, Ameridial sees itself as a long-term tenant of Fort Kent. The firm signed a three year lease on the building it has chosen for its new contact center.
