Priorities are shifting in network solutions development. The focus for the foreseeable future is open, software-defined solutions with the cloud playing a major role in the enablement of our digital era. With an open approach comes collaboration, and this week the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) filled a roster spot to aid in forwarding its missions.
CNCF named ZTE (News - Alert) Corporation as its newest member this week, joining the foundation as a Gold Member ready to aid in sustaining and integration open source technologies like Prometheus and Kubernetes. Per recent research from Forrester, Chinese companies will play a major role in the cloud era.
"CNCF is thrilled to have ZTE on board as a Gold Member, joining our efforts to support cloud native technologies," said Dan Kohn, Executive Director of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. "ZTE has been a continuous and important contributor to Kubernetes and we look forward to the company's assistance in attracting a diverse set of cloud native engineers to our ever-growing ecosystem and increasing the presence of Kubernetes in China and around the world."
ZTE is a Chinese-based company that presents an international presence, with offices in Europe, North America and Asia, and employing over 30,000 people working toward the development of next generation solutions fit for the current phase of digital transformation, and far into the future.
"We believe cloud native enhancement on NFV will bring dramatic improvement in flexibility, agility and open capability – which is why our company has supported R&D for cloud native VNFs (vEPC/ vIMS, etc) and relevant CT enhancements based on ZTE TECS," noted Xu ziyang, President of ZTE SDN/NFV Virtualization Product Line.
