SevOne recently announced the formation of the SevOne READY Alliance Program (SRP), which provides an environment for participating vendors to showcase their solutions running on the SevOne Digital Infrastructure Management Platform (SDIMP). SevOne hopes that the new program is win-win for everyone involved as it not only helps these vendors promote their solutions, but also provides potential customers with products that meet their needs, as well as helping SevOne increase its brand awareness.
Boston-based SevOne, Inc. was founded in 2005 by Vess and Tanya Bakalov as a result of their realization that the industry lacked tools to monitor the size of networks. Both saw the opportunity in developing a platform that would allow companies with large networks to know its current status and take action to ensure optimal performance. According to its website, Verizon Wireless, Comcast, NASDAQ, CSC (News - Alert), and Morgan Stanley are among its customers.
The company has an extensive reseller program for businesses already selling networking products from leading vendors like Cisco (News - Alert), Juniper, and Alcatel-Lucent. These relationships allow resellers to work with SevOne to develop solutions like portals and reporting.
The alliance between SevOne and Cisco is a good example of how customers can benefit from such a relationship. There is a seemingly countless number of Cisco network deployments and SevOne has provided a platform that allows for better performance monitoring.
In the area of Cisco IP SLAs, for example, SevOne provides a more convenient method of obtaining results and display them in a meaningful way. Without SevOne’s involvement, admins would have to use a command-line-interface (much like the old MS-DOS commands, for those who can remember) to get any results at all.
As anyone who has been paying attention must know, data demand on networks is growing at a furious pace to the point that there is some concern whether infrastructure providers can keep with it. While the supply side of infrastructure is critical, the monitoring side is equally important. By creating the READY Alliance Program, SevOne is making it easier for network owners to know how well their infrastructure is performing. This approach effectively creates a marketplace that invites innovation.
