Sangoma Technologies CEO Listed in TMC's Top 100 IP Communications Voices

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

Technology Marketing Corporation, publisher of Internet Telephony Magazine and TMCnet.com, recently released a list of the Top 100 Voices in IP Communications. The list is the centerpiece of the magazine’s 100th issue, out this month.

Among the people on the list is David Mandelstam, CEO of Sangoma Technologies, a company that specializes in open source PBX (News - Alert) solutions.

“Being named as one of the Top 100 Voices in this space is truly an honor,” Mandelstam said in a statement. “That TMC has given us this prestigious award speaks to Sangoma’s (News - Alert) ability to be recognized for its important contributions, especially to the open source telephony VoIP space.”

Mandelstam is a pioneer in connectivity hardware and software products for telephony, wide area networks (WANs), and the Internet. As Founder/President/CEO of Sangoma, he is responsible for overall management of the company and its future strategic direction.

Mandelstam and his research and development team at Sangoma focus on the company’s family of Advanced Flexible Telecommunication (AFT) T1/E1/J1 voice and data cards that are engineered for today’s demanding soft PBX, IVR and VoIP applications (such as Asterisk and Yate). The company led the way with a price and performance standard that its competitors are now following.

Before starting Sangoma in 1984, David ran an engineering company and was engineering VP of an energy conservation company.

David holds a bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa; a master’s of science degree in aerodynamics from the Cranfield Institute of Technology in the United Kingdom; and a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of South Africa.

Launched in February 1998, Internet Telephony Magazine is the longest-running publication dedicated completely to coverage of IP communications.

“Our committee looked back over the course of the last decade, and came up with 100 people who we felt should be counted among the Top 100 Voices,” said Rich Tehrani, TMC president and group editor-in-chief. “The common thread among all of the Top 100 Voices is that they played a part in the birth, growth and maturity of the IP Communications market.”

In addition to being profiled in the magazine, the “Top 100 Voices” were honored at a special reception hosted by Rich Tehrani during the recent Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO West in San Diego.
