The University of Kentucky's Information Technology Customer Service office has decided to try a more “customer-friendly” approach to providing assistance.
University officials have
announced 218-HELP as U.K.’s telephone source for “answers to a variety of computing and networking questions.”
A single number for Information Technology customer service was chosen, they say, to “eliminate the need to call multiple numbers. Students, faculty, staff and other customers can now receive assistance from UKIT Customer Service by dialing one number.”
UKIT Customer Service officials say this is a “more customer-friendly approach,” adding that “additional self-service tools will be added soon, including a means to verify the status of customer requests or questions.”
Other news from the UKIT page discusses the 2nd Annual Student Technology Forum was held Feb. 16. Over 200 students participated, consumed 80 pizzas and 300 drinks and completed surveys. Over 20 prizes were given away including a HP printer, iPod Touch and a Dell Netbook. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to logon to the UKIT Student Computing Services group page on Facebook (News - Alert) to view pictures from the event and join the group, reports said.
“The recent e-mail delivery issues have been resolved. E-mail is now flowing regularly through the system, and all mail queued for local delivery has been delivered,” company officials said. “During the outage, some mail may have been returned to the original sender as undeliverable. In those cases, the sender would need to resend the message for it to be delivered to the U.K. recipient.”
“Microsoft (News - Alert) has released Internet Explorer version 8. At this time, U.K.’s SAP environment is not certified to run with IE 8. Therefore, it is NOT recommended that you install IE 8 if you are using IRIS/SAP (News - Alert). Notification will be sent when the IRIS/SAP environment has been certified with IE 8,” reports said.
Ah, college days.
